Ba-Zynga! Serial Entreprenuership

Mark Pincus is a successful 'serial entrepreneur' and now has another hit with Zynga.  (How did he get people to spend real money on virtual chickens?)

What does this article show us about vision, leadership, investors and financing a new venture?

I think this article shows Pincus' confidence which is bordering with arrogance.

As with all entrepreneurs his goals does not seem to be money. In the article it is written that he felt slightly scorned by Silicon Valley for not recognizing him and now with Zynga he believes he will receive his due.

As we discussed last week in our discussion board regarding financially attractive ventures, this is a very attractive investment. Pincus' goal was to make money right away and be able to sit down with investors as a partner and "not an employee."

The company is making money and they are benefitting off of people's desire to escape reality. Even if it is only for 1 hour per day people like the get away they receive from their everyday lives.

I’m personally a fan of Farmville these games really take your mind beyond reality, is a way to escape from problems and just relax.

I think pincus is a very intelligent entrepreneur he knows what he’s doing but it doesn’t seem to me that he knows what he wants, you can tell when you read his comments that he is looking for something else than money, money is not the target for him, he wants recognition I think he’s looking to fill he’s ego.

I think that if he knows how advanced and growth with technology he will be in business for a long time but not forever, he will need to create something new and improve or even change zinga’s game, these games follow a patron and they are so popular now and people just love them but it will get to appoint that if he doesn’t change people will get tired. As I was reading the article came to my mind the social network MySpace, it was the most famous network with millions and millions of users I personally thought that its popularity would be forever, but now we can see how MySpace has loose popularity millions of users has switch to others networks like Facebook and twitter, in my opinion that’s going to happen if Zinga’s game does not change its patrons, somebody else will came out with abrilliant idea just like pincus and will bit then so I think they better keep step by step with technology and customer’s demand.

Interesting that both posts recognize the drive here is not for money, but "recognition" or "ego" - why else would a person put in 100-hour weeks! This drive certainly trumps money, and ironically, the passion and ego-drive usually means an excellent product that brings in riches.

This article was a great read, because these online games have become so popular. I personally dislike, and find them annoying. For example, on Face Book I have my entire family constantly sending me request to become part of Farmville, but I never accept it. And in the article it states how, "Twenty to 30 percent of visitors to Face Book are to play games." That's alot, and I see it with my friends, that they can spend hours playing that game.

On a good note, these games do allow you to interact with others which is great for communication, and if your bored, it's a wonderful way to kill time. By the looks of it, Zynga seems to be at the tops, it has, "the most revenues growth and happy customers of any three-year-old venture" Says John Derr. Mr. Pincus is enthusiastic, because he knows that Zynga has potential to become huge.
