Reading this entry is very discouraging. Our stability in this country is frightening compared to what it used to be. Business are struggling and not doing well as we read in this article. It’s sad to hear when it’s a “ma and pa shop” going under rather then a corporation because these smaller business start out with odds agonists them in the beginning. It’s as if you are putting a small sea bass in a tank with sharks (being Corporate America). I work for corporate and I even feel the grunt of the economy in my raise for the year. There are some business out there that are thriving and I am very happy for them, however I feel you need a lot of financial backing in order to be successful. This article is discouraging in regards to starting my own business one day but I will stay positive and pursue my dreams regardless.

Like the article states many businesses were bought out by others. Larger service providers and retailers can accommodate more clients for less and that is why consumers are changing their method of purchasing. Take myself for instance, I do not pay full retail price for products as I can buy them online, free shipping and with samples. With the status of the economy start up money is a huge investment without knowing if there, will even be a return on your money and that is quite scary. Marian
